The Denagene Tajhiz Pro Drop is a UV-Vis microvolume spectrophotometer for fast and accurate quantification and purity assessment of DNA, RNA, and proteins. It provides essential QC information in a short time using only 1–2 µL of sample—without the need for cuvettes.
In Pro Drop, the sample is placed on a pedestal. After closing the arm, a liquid column is formed in the optical path. The pathlength is automatically adjusted from 1.0 to 0.2 mm, enabling measurement of both dilute and highly concentrated samples—often without dilution. Spectral analysis is performed using a 3648-element linear CCD array.
The key difference between Pro Drop and Eco Drop (and many entry-level systems) is the pulsed xenon flash lamp light source, making Pro Drop a better fit for users who demand higher accuracy, repeatability, and measurement stability—especially in diagnostic applications and critical projects.

Advantages vs. Conventional Spectrophotometers
- Ultra-low sample volume: only 1–2 µL (traditional systems typically require cuvettes and larger volumes)
- High speed: suitable for routine workflows and high sample numbers
- Cuvette-free operation: reduces consumable cost and minimizes errors related to cuvette handling/cleaning
- Auto-ranging pathlength: enables measurement of concentrated samples with less need for dilution
- Improved reproducibility: xenon flash lamp supports stable, repeatable measurements for precision-focused labs
Pro Drop Applications in Molecular & Diagnostic Laboratories
- DNA/RNA QC before PCR, Real-Time PCR, and RT-PCR
- Concentration measurement of genomic DNA, plasmid DNA, and cDNA
- Sample quality monitoring prior to sequencing and cloning workflows
- Protein quantification and QC of UV-Vis solutions
- Suitable for clinical diagnostics, genetics, virology, and research laboratories
Pro Drop Maintenance & Calibration
- Clean the pedestal after each sample using a lint-free tissue and distilled water/ethanol
- Blank with the same buffer/solvent used for the sample to minimize baseline error
- Keep the system in a dry, dust-free, vibration-free environment
- Perform periodic calibration according to company recommendations and internal lab standards
Buying Guide for Denagene Tajhiz Pro Drop
Before choosing between Eco Drop and Pro Drop, consider:
- Daily workload: high sample volume makes speed and measurement stability more important
- Application type: DNA/RNA only, or also proteins and OD600?
- Need for higher accuracy and speed: Pro Drop with a xenon flash lamp is better for users sensitive to accuracy and repeatability
- Data storage and export: USB output and connectivity simplify reporting and documentation
Denagene Tajhiz experts can recommend the best option (Eco Drop or Pro Drop) based on test type, sample volume, and budget. In-country installation, training, support, and periodic calibration services are also available.
